Privacy Policy

Local Technolgies Inc. ("Local Pass", "we", "us", or "our") operates the Local Pass mobile application and website at localpass.ca (collectively, the "Platform"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our Platform, in accordance with the British Columbia Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and applicable Canadian federal privacy law.
1. Information we collect
Account information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and password.
Location data: With your permission, we collect precise location data to facilitate delivery matching, rideshare services, and to show you relevant nearby businesses.
Transaction data: We collect records of orders, purchases, and payments made through the Platform, including amounts, items, and timestamps.
Device information: We collect device identifiers, operating system, and app version to provide and improve the Platform.
Communications: If you contact us, we retain records of that correspondence.
Driver information: Delivery partners provide additional information including vehicle type and, where required by law, identification documents.
2. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account
- Process orders, payments, and deliveries
- Match delivery partners with orders
- Provide customer support
- Send transaction confirmations and service updates
- Improve and personalise the Platform
- Comply with legal obligations
- Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
3. Sharing your information
We share your information only as necessary to operate the Platform:
- Merchants: Your name, order details, and delivery address are shared with the restaurant or producer fulfilling your order.
- Delivery partners: Your delivery address and first name are shared with the driver assigned to your order.
- Payment processors: Payment information is processed by Stripe. We do not store full card details.
- Service providers: We work with trusted third-party providers (hosting, analytics, customer support) who process data only on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of users or the public.
4. Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain session state, remember preferences, and understand how the Platform is used. You may control cookie settings through your browser, though some features may not function without them.
5. Data retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Platform. Transaction records are retained for seven years to meet legal and accounting obligations. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.
6. Your rights
Under PIPA and applicable Canadian law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Withdraw consent (where consent is the basis for processing), subject to legal or contractual restrictions
- Request deletion of your account and personal data
- Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for BC

7. Security
We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information, including encryption in transit (TLS), access controls, and secure cloud infrastructure. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's privacy
The Platform is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on the Platform with a revised date, and where appropriate, by email. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
