Questions from grocers and specialty food shops
Can an independent grocery store sell online with Local Pass?
Yes. Any independent grocery store or specialty food shop on Vancouver Island can join, whatever its size — every business on Local Pass is based on the Island.
Can I sell everything my shop stocks?
Your food lines, yes: produce, pantry staples, cheese and dairy, bread, coffee and tea. Local Pass is a food marketplace, so non-food lines such as household goods are case by case — ask us. You can’t sell raw milk, cannabis or tobacco.
Do I have to put my whole store online?
No. You choose what goes online — start with one department or your top sellers, and add more whenever you’re ready.
How is Local Pass different from Instacart or Uber Eats?
Instacart is built for large retailers and Uber Eats for restaurants. Local Pass is built for independent food businesses on Vancouver Island, selling side by side to the same local customers.
Can I keep my own website and the other apps I sell on?
Yes. There’s no exclusivity and no minimum, so your website, your walk-in customers and any other apps carry on as they are — Local Pass is one more way for Islanders to buy from you.
Can a grocer outside Victoria join?
