Local Pass is an app and website for ordering from Vancouver Island’s own restaurants and shops, built by two people who live in Victoria. It is live in Greater Victoria now, with Nanaimo, Duncan, Courtenay, Campbell River and Port Alberni rolling out next.
What you can order on Local Pass
- Restaurant delivery and takeout. Order from local restaurants for delivery or pickup, and follow the order live. Browse takeout.
- The Island Food Market. Groceries and local products from Island shops and farms. Shop the Island Food Market.
- Catering. Order food for an office lunch or an event from local restaurants (coming soon).
- Rides. Coming soon.
Why we built an app for Vancouver Island
Local Pass was founded by Subash Chandel and Dmitriy Kuleshov, who both live in Victoria. They had watched the big companies, whether it's a delivery or big corporate grocery chains, squeeze local businesses and the people ordering from them, and set out to build something that gives both a fairer deal and create equal opportunities for all.
Local Pass is independent like many businesses who chose to partner with us. Every order is a small vote for what stays open on your street.
What comes next
Rides are coming with additional services, and so are more Island towns: Nanaimo, Duncan, Courtenay, Campbell River and Port Alberni. This blog will tell the stories of the people who cook, bake, grow and drive here, with their permission and with a link to order from them.

Where is Local Pass available?+
Local Pass is live in Greater Victoria, and Nanaimo, Duncan, Courtenay, Campbell River and Port Alberni are rolling out next. Choose your city in the app or on the website to see the restaurants and shops near you, since each business sets how far it delivers.
Is Local Pass part of DoorDash or Uber Eats?+
No. Local Pass is independently owned and operated on Vancouver Island, and it is not affiliated with DoorDash, Uber Eats, SkipTheDishes or any national delivery platform. Every restaurant and shop on Local Pass is located on the Island.
Can I book a ride on Local Pass?+
Not yet. Rides are marked as coming soon in Local Pass. For now you can order from local restaurants for delivery or pickup, shop the Island Food Market, book catering and send gift cards.
What are Local Coins?+
Local Coins are Local Pass’s rewards currency. You earn them on purchases and can use them toward later orders, and you can send Local Coins to someone by email as a gift card.
