Sales agreement with the Liquor Distribution Branch

The Liquor Distribution Branch is BC’s only wholesaler, so every BC maker needs a signed sales agreement with it to sell anywhere in the province. The agreement’s class — land-based or commercial winery, craft or commercial distillery, brewery — sets your markup and who you may deliver to directly, and every product must be registered with it.

How to get it

  1. 1

    Answer the LDB’s questionnaire

    You don’t apply separately: the LCRB passes on your licence application and the LDB emails you. It decides which of six agreements fits you — land-based or commercial winery, brewery, brewpub, craft or commercial distillery.

  2. 2

    Sign and return the agreement

    After approval in principle. You also need a BCeID to report sales, and most makers sign a pre-authorized debit agreement.

  3. 3

    Register and price every product

    Once your licence is issued, on the LDB’s vendor website; approval takes 3–5 business days if the details are right.
